By mid-2023, Sanofi faced a challenging messaging environment just as they were about to launch their COVID-Flu combo vaccine. Simply put, people had reached the point of fatigue on COVID-related messaging. Coupled with a tight timeline between disease onset and informed consent, this made the chances of reaching their recruitment goals somewhere between slim and none. Just as Sanofi acknowledged that while COVID no longer represented a global emergency, it was still out there, still circulating, and still potentially dangerous, thus creating a need for additional options.

This final nuance of combining both a flu and covid vaccine was noted to break through the fatigue around covid vaccine messaging. The design featured a stunning human-focused look and feel with added impact elements that featured bright colors and punchy call-outs.
